FAQ

Why Take Highland Dancing?

According to Wikipedia: Highland dancing is a competitive and technical dance form requiring technique, stamina, and strength, and is recognised as a sport by the Sport Council of Scotland.

By signing your child up for Highland Dance classes, you are encouraging an active body and an active mind. Along with the stamina and strength described above, Highland Dance requires memory work, determination, persistence and dedication and you will watch all of these skills build in your dancer over time. Highland dance builds confidence, body awareness and work ethic. It also allows for many opportunities to feel a sense of accomplishment as dancers are successfully trained for B.A.T.D. Medal Testing each year. Your dancer will also learn the history of these ancient dances as they strive to tell the story of each dance through their movement.
