Classes for new dancers

Morgan’s School offers beginner classes for ages 2- adult. Below are short descriptions of each class.

Age 2-4- Parent and Preschooler
These classes are for 2-4 year olds with a parent, auntie, grandparent, etc. Parents and their children will join in circle time, movement to music and early highland dance movements. These classes are 30 minutes long.

Age 3-4 Tartan Tots
These classes are for 3-4 year olds that are ready to attend dance class without their parent. Tartan tots will learn Hop Scotch Polka and Pas de Basques and Highcuts. They will also prepare for their Tartan Tots BATD Medal Testing which takes place in the Spring. There will be opportunities to perform and compete at the end of the year. These classes are 30 minutes long.

Age 5-7 First Steps
These classes are for 5-7 year olds. Dancers will learn Hop Scotch Polka, Pas de Basques and Highcuts and start learning the Highland Fling. They will also prepare for their First Steps BATD Medal Testing which takes place in the Spring. There will be opportunities to perform and compete at the end of the year. These classes are 45 minutes long.

Age 8-13 Kilts & Hilts
These classes are for 8-13 year olds. Dancers will learn Pas de Basques, Highland Fling and start learning the Sword Dance. They will also prepare for their Pre Primary and Pre Bronze BATD Medal Testing which takes place in the Spring. There will be opportunities to perform and compete at the end of the year. These classes are 60 minutes long.

Beginner Teens/Adults
This class strives to meet the diverse interests that beginner adults and teens have when starting highland dance. Dancers may simply want the exercise and fun, others may want to dip their toe in BATD Medal Testing and others may want to do it all- perform, compete and complete testing. We can help you prepare for whatever it is you want out of dance class! These classes are 60 minutes long.
